RCT Teaching & Local Health Board

Rhondda Cynon Taff LHB was established as a new statutory organisation in April 2003. It is one of 22 local health boards across Wales, which evolved to replace the roles and responsibilities of the former health authorities.

Rhondda Cynon Taff LHB has its own Board and dedicated management team. It will work together with Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council in partnership with other local organisations such as the NHS Trusts, Community Health Council and voluntary sector, to provide a local focus for the development of strategies for the improvement of health, well being and social care in the area. The local population will also be encouraged to participate in planning individual care, improving services, and planning changes and developments in services.

Our Vision

Rhondda Cynon Taff Teaching Local Health Board will strive with all partners through robust commissioning to protect and improve the health of the local population, and provide the highest quality health care possible with the emphasis on safe services delivered as close to the individual as possible.

From April 2008, RCT Teaching Local Health Board and Merthyr Tydfil Local Health Board commenced joint working, with a joint Chief Executive Officer and joint Executive Team Structure.
